Just a random Question -
If a dairy hasn’t jumped on genomics, how do they get on board? Can people only compete now if they entered the game early or if they have lost of money? Any small niches or anything people can do to really get going on genomics that may not cost as much. Just a random thought. Answer below in the comment section if you would like.

Scenic Sunday - Beaver Mountains
Scenic Sunday comes to you today from Beaver, UT. This past weekend was the opening of the deer hunt and also the 2nd annual Gillins’ Family Reunion. This event started last year as a way to spend some quality time with the Steve & Becky and all their children. Last year we gathered “Out West” (as it is referred to by people from Minersville), but this year we enjoyed the...

Scenic Sunday - Parowan Gap
The Parowan Gap is located about 20 minutes from Minersville. It is right off Minersville Highway, halfway between Minersville and Cedar City. The Parowan Gap features beautiful petroglyphs that have been around many years. Some people consider the petroglyphs to be just random drawings, but it seems there is something much more to these writings than that. The most notable of the geometric...

Scenic Sunday (or not so Scenic) - Utah Fires
This week we are mixing up our Scenic Sunday. Our Scenic Sunday is not much about a scenic look at Utah, but much rather a moment to stop and think of all the lives being affected in the West by these fires. There are several fires throughout Utah that have already started this summer and many still burning. Many homes have been lost and acres upon acres have been lost and damaged due to these...

Ag In The Classroom at Gillins Dairy
Gillins Dairy on May 2nd held the annual Ag in the Classroom and invited around 600 elementary kids to come learn about agriculture. This was an extremely fun event and it’s always funny to hear the kids ask where do you milk the boy cows or other random questions kids ask! They learned about pigs, chickens, beef cattle, sheep, and even how to milk a cow. It was a great event and Gillins...

Many children are unaware of how very few farmers there are that feed the nation and world. This...

We were asked recently by Dairy Bulls Online (www.dairybullsonline.com) to share some insight into Abigail and how she basically launched Canyon Breeze Holsteins. Here is the story:

Finding our voice
As we continue our pursuit of social media in the 21st century, we are also trying to find our voice. What do we want to do with this blog, twitter, and facebook? What message do we want to relay? One thing is we don’t really want to be negative because everyone has their trials and difficulties in this industry and people don’t want to hear about all of our problems. It seems like...
